What to expect

Getting Started

Free Consultation Call

The first step will include a free consultation call to discuss questions, concerns, and next steps in the process for your child and their speech and/or language development. During the consultation call, we will discuss your family’s unique circumstances. At this time, we’ll discuss whether the evaluation and therapy services will be best provided in the child’s home, school, or a blend of both environments.

Schedule an Evaluation

An evaluation will be scheduled if warranted after discussing your child’s communication strengths and challenges.

Intake Paperwork

After an evaluation is scheduled, an e-mail will be sent to you to create an account on my client portal. On the client portal, you will find intake paperwork and documents to sign prior to the evaluation. The intake paperwork will gather pertinent information regarding your child’s developmental, educational, speech, language, cognitive, feeding, and swallowing history.

Insurance

I do not accept insurance and am considered private pay. This means I am an out-of-network provider. However, I am happy to provide you with a Superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. If you plan to submit a Superbill to your insurance, it is recommended that you contact your insurance provider to understand coverage and requirements for reimbursement. Some insurance providers require a physician referral. If you do not plan to submit for out-of-network reimbursement, a physician referral is not required.

Evaluation

The evaluation will include parent interview for further insight and collaboration into the child’s communication skills in various environments. I believe in creating functional and client/family-centered goals and addressing these during the evaluation to promote successful treatment. In addition, depending on the concerns discussed, the next steps may include a comprehensive assessment of informal and/or formal standardized testing. After the evaluation, a full assessment report will be written and discussed addressing baseline data, goals, impressions, and recommendations for therapy. You will receive a copy of the assessment report via HIPPA compliant email for your record to share with the child’s pediatrician and/or other healthcare professionals.

Treatment

Every therapy session will be individualized and tailored to meet the needs of the child. Regular data will be collected and on-going assessment will occur to evaluate the child’s progress toward goals and effectiveness of intervention strategies utilized. In addition, parent participation and/or observation is highly encouraged for improved carryover of skills outside of therapy. Strong communication with my families is important and will occur during and/or after every therapy session to enhance progress toward goals and plan of care.
